From Home Offices to a Global Software Provider
Tayrex Corporation was officially formed in April 2002 as a software and consulting firm. But the company’s story began earlier — at the end of 2000 — when its founders started operating from their home offices with a simple but forward thinking idea:Use the emerging power of internet connectivity to help small businesses with multiple locations operate more efficiently.
At a time when free or low cost networking was still new, Tayrex saw an opportunity to give smaller companies the kind of connectivity and collaboration tools that were previously available only to large enterprises.
The First Product: Knowledge Sharing Portal
Tayrex’s first product was a Knowledge Sharing Portal — a secure platform that allowed internal employees or external partners (such as suppliers) to share documents with specific groups without exposing information to others. It was innovative, secure, and ahead of its time.Although the product was strong, it did not gain the traction the team expected. That experience led Tayrex to pivot — not away from innovation, but toward building custom applications using the same underlying EII platform.
Early Success in Custom Applications
The first major custom application was built for a multi location cell phone retailer. Tayrex developed a complete solution that managed:- Point of sale
- Contracts
- Inventory
- Centralized processing on a main server
Expanding Into Full Operational Solutions
From that point forward, Tayrex developed a wide range of custom applications, including:- Fulfillment warehouse systems
- CRM solutions
- EDI integrations
- Dispatch and routing systems
- And many other specialized tools
